The very honest story behind Bompies—and the side hustle that refused to disappear.
Six years ago, Posey Broomhall decided her salon clients deserved a better shower cap.
What started as one clever hair essential quickly became Bompies—a brand created to help women keep their blow waves for longer, protect their hair from steam and moisture, and stop it from getting dirty so quickly.
Then COVID arrived. With three-year-old twins and another baby due within weeks, Posey did the logical thing… she expanded her side hustle.
Bompies grew from shower caps and hair essentials into a beautiful, bespoke sleepwear brand, handmade in Australia. Some of the country’s biggest influencers wore it, shared it and wanted to work with the brand.
From the outside, it looked incredible—and it was. But beautiful doesn’t always mean sustainable.
Posey had poured her heart, soul and a lot of money into the part of Bompies she loved most. Eventually, she had to admit it wasn’t quite right for the time and make the difficult decision to let it go.
But something interesting happened: Bompies never really disappeared.
Even without posting on Instagram for years, shower caps continued to sell every week. People kept asking when the towel wraps were coming back, and the original Bompies shower cap continued appearing in incredible publications.
The hair essentials had always worked because they solved a real problem.
After using everything she learnt from Bompies to transform Harpo from a local salon into a recognised, award-nominated brand, Posey is ready to bring that knowledge back to where it started.
Bompies is returning—more focused, more confident and completely centred around hair.
The towel wraps are coming back, wholesale is now available, and the iconic shower cap that started it all isn’t going anywhere.
