I finally get to tell you!
After months of keeping one very big secret, our Harpo Hair Were Street salon is moving — but don’t worry, we’re not going far.
In fact, we’re only moving a few doors down Were Street into a building many of you will already know and love — the old Belmains building at 117 Were Street.
And honestly, I still can’t quite believe I get to say that.
Harpo Hair x Belmains
There is something really special about this building. It has so much history, character and charm, and from the moment I walked through the doors, I could see Harpo in there.
High ceilings, beautiful timber, stained glass, old doors and so many gorgeous original details. Rather than stripping all of that away, the plan is to work with what is already there and bring Harpo into it.
Of course, with plenty of colour, pattern and all the little details you know I can’t help myself with.
This next chapter feels like such a natural evolution for Harpo. We have grown so much over the past few years — not only in numbers, but as a team and as a business — and it feels like the right time to create a Were Street salon that really reflects where Harpo is now and where we are heading next.
The next chapter
Harpo has never just been about me.
Our team, our clients and our community have made the business what it is today.
Amanda has also been such a huge part of Harpo’s growth and this next chapter. From joining Harpo, to becoming our manager and then a co-owner of the business, we have grown so much together and I’m incredibly excited for what this new space means for all of us.
Most importantly, we get to stay right here in the Were Street community we love.
Same team. Same street. Same Harpo.
Just a very exciting new home.
So, when are we moving?
We are working towards opening the doors to our new Were Street salon in November 2026.
And before anyone panics — our current Were Street salon will not be closing during the move.
We’ll continue working from our current salon while the renovation happens, so all existing appointments remain exactly as booked. Once our beautiful new space is ready, the Were Street team will simply make the move a few doors down.
Our Hampton Street salon isn’t changing or going anywhere either — it will continue exactly as normal.
So from a client point of view, you don’t need to do anything. We’ll keep you updated as we get closer to moving day.
Come along for the renovation
Now that the secret is finally out, I can actually show you what we’ve been doing!
Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing the whole renovation — the decisions, the DIY, the things that work, the things that absolutely do not, the wins, the disasters and everything happening behind the scenes.
There has already been A LOT that has gone into getting to this point, and trust me, that is a whole other story in itself.
I’ll be sharing plenty of the process, but I’m also going to keep a few things under wraps.
I want you to see the transformation happening, but when it comes to the completely finished salon, we’re saving that for one big unveiling.
You’ll have to follow along to see how it all comes together.
And what are the Harpo Hair Times?
If you’ve walked past the new salon today, you may have noticed something a little different covering the windows.
Welcome to the Harpo Hair Times.
While we renovate, our windows are being taken over by our very own newspaper, filled with stories about Harpo, our team, our history, Bompies, the Blow Wave Club and everything in between.
Each article has a QR code so you can stop, scan and have a read — or you can find the stories right here on our website.
It felt like a very Harpo way to cover up a building site.
And now the fun really begins.
Thank you to every client who has sat in our chairs, supported our team, recommended us to a friend, followed along online or simply cheered Harpo on over the years.
We genuinely wouldn’t be here without you.
Harpo Hair x Belmains. Coming November 2026.
See you a few doors down. 💗
